Zubaida Bai joined Grameen Foundation in November 2022 as its new President and CEO. She is the first woman and the first Indian American to lead the organization. She is also the co-founder of ayzh, Inc., a social venture that provides sanitary maternal and menstrual products to women and girls in India. Zubaida came to Grameen from CARE, where she was Director of Social Ventures.
"Eighteen years ago, I moved to the United States to complete my MBA program. I came with my husband, my two-year-old son, and a dream: to work towards making the lives of women, like those I’d grown up with in India, better," she said.
"Inequality exists, and women and girls face the brunt of it. Over the last 18 years, I have focused on leveling the playing field for the under-served. Grameen Foundation's mission to empower the poor, especially women, to create a world free of poverty and hunger resonates with me.
"As we conclude our 25th anniversary celebrations and I embark on this journey with Grameen Foundation, I am confident that we will continue to make a real difference in the lives of people around the world."
