Grameen Capital India

In 2007, impelled by the need to provide financial services to poor households in India, Grameen Foundation, Citicorp Finance and IFMR Trust founded Grameen Capital India as a joint venture. Since then, Grameen Capital India has evolved into a first-of-its-kind financial advisory firm with a mandate to catalyze inclusive growth and facilitate access to capital markets for impact-focused enterprises. Their clients are microfinance institutions, affordable healthcare providers, low-cost education firms and other organizations with a social development focus. It is a social business, modeled after the concept championed by Professor Muhammad Yunus, and reinvests profits into the business to benefit even more customers, rather than distributing dividends.

Grameen Capital India provides its clients with innovative debt and equity solutions coupled with advisory services to efficiently and effectively scale their businesses.

Grameen Impact India

Established in partnership with Grameen Capital India, Grameen Impact India catalyzes access to debt capital for social enterprises, by leveraging its balance sheet and through syndication.  It plans to focus on the healthcare, agriculture, financial services and education sectors.

Grameen-Jameel Microfinance Limited

Since 2003, Grameen Foundation has supported microfinance across the Middle East and North Africa as a means of creating opportunities for the area’s poorest, especially women. In 2007, we collaborated with Bab Rizq Jameel Limited, a subsidiary of the Abdul Latif Jameel Group, to found Grameen-Jameel Microfinance Limited (Grameen-Jameel). Headquartered in Dubai, Grameen-Jameel is a joint venture company that oversees all regional activities for Grameen Foundation.  Modeled after the social business concept championed by Professor Muhammad Yunus, the company reinvests profits into the business rather than distributing dividends, which keeps capital flowing into the hands of borrowers who need it.
