On Thursday, April 19, Grameen Foundation friends, partners, and staff from across the world will gather to celebrate 15 years of providing transformative small loans and technology solutions to help struggling families break the cycle of poverty. With the support of generous people like you, our ability to help the poorest has grown significantly since our founding in 1997. What started with $6,000 in seed funding from Professor Muhammad Yunus and the entrepreneurial spirit of President and founder Alex Counts has become one of the world’s most innovative microfinance and technology-for-development organizations, empowering millions of the world’s poor.
This event will bring together leading philanthropists, corporate CEOs, bankers, corporate executives, entrepreneurs and dedicated volunteers from New York City and beyond for a night of inspiration and celebration. The opportunity to meet some of the most passionate philanthropists and top strategists in the world of microfinance and technology-for-development will make this an evening to remember. This memorable evening will include remarks from Dr. Paul E. Jacobs, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Qualcomm, who will be receiving Grameen Foundation’s Humanitarian Award on behalf of Qualcomm's Wireless Reach™ initiative. Entertainment will be provided by BollyArts Dance Troupe, which recently performed at the 81st Annual Academy Awards in 2009!

At Grameen Foundation our goal is simple – we want to see poor people, especially the poorest and those living in hard-to-reach areas, have access to microfinance and technology and, as a result of access to these services, move themselves out of poverty. We envision a world where the poor have broken the generational chain of poverty and lead lives of respect, dignity and opportunity.
